It seems like everybody these days is trying to lose weight, and it also seems like most of those people just aren’t satisfied with how slow the process of weight loss is. Whether they’re using traditional methods like exercise and healthy eating or trying new procedures like the lap band, weight loss often takes so long that people give up on it. Even people who continue to stick to their weight loss experience the frustration of not losing the weight fast enough. There are several things you can do to help speed up your weight loss and reach your goal faster. Here are a few ideas to get you started.
Eat Whey Protein
A recent study published in The Journal of Nutrition suggests that eating more whey protein can assist in making you leaner and helping you lose weight faster. Whey protein is found in dairy products, including yogurt and milk. The study found that mice who ate a high-fat diet containing whey gained 42% less weight than mice who didn’t eat the whey – even though both groups consumed the same number of calories. Whey contributes to lean muscle mass rather than fat, so adding more of it to your diet can help push you towards your goal.
Eat more early in the day
Most of the calories you consume should be eaten earlier in the day. This gives your body more opportunities to burn them off. Plus eating early in the day will give you more energy to exercise and burn off those calories, so eating a good breakfast and lunch is a win-win for you and your weight. The kinds of meals you eat should vary based on time of day, too – proteins and carbohydrates should be consumed during breakfast and lunch, and proteins and fats (with few carbs) should be eaten later in the day.
Eat thermogenic foods
Many people have never heard of thermogenic foods, but they can play a big role in speeding up your weight loss. Thermogenic foods include cinnamon, hot peppers, ginger, and green tea. These foods increase your body heat and the amount of energy you expend. Thus you use up more calories and burn more fat. Your diet shouldn’t consist solely of these foods, but having a cup of green tea and adding some ginger to certain meals will get your body burning more fat – which means you’ll look leaner quicker.
